57th Annual AORN Congress in Denver

The 57th Annual Congress of the Association of periOperative Nurses (AORN) will be held in Denver from March 13th to 18th, 2010. The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) is proud to have several surgeons and nursing colleagues speaking at the event, including Jodie Taylor MD (Ribloc – Trauma Intensive), Zach Mueller RN,DNP (Nurses & Social Media), Mary Jo Steiert RN (Safe Surgery Saves Lives), Craig Loucks MD (Total Hip Surgery), Mark Fitzgerald MD (Shoulder Injuries), Hugh McPherson MD (Spine Deformities), and Robert Greenhow MD (Total Knee Surgery).

The keynote speaker on Monday March 15th at 8 a.m. is Atul Gawande MD, who will be speaking on the topic of Safer Surgery.

TMCA’s AVP Surgical Services, Julie Martin RN, BSN, MBA, is the current President for the Denver chapter of AORN and is the National Volunteer Coordinator for the event at the Denver Convention Center. Because of TMCA’s Magnet status and the involvement of TMCA’s surgical leadership team, the hospital has been asked to host several international guests including 50 delegates from the Chinese Nursing Association on Wednesday, March 17th from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. in Meeting Room 2.
