As a nurse who has taken care of many patients with neurological trauma and impairment similar to that of Terri Schiavo, I do believe there is a time to end heroics.
Thank you for highlighting Betty Benson regarding her outstanding contributions to nursing, end-of-life care and health care ethics in the Nov. 17 Denver’s Nursing Star.
I think that more people are not going into nursing despite the nationwide nursing shortage for many reasons, mainly because the changing face of health care does not support nurses.
I would like to commend Mike Lee and Denver's Nursing Star for your Oct. 27 coverage of the issue of physician supervision of nurse anesthetists and the Colorado Society of Anesthesiologists' efforts to maintain this vital public safety net.
